Milton Edward Jones Jr., affectionately known as the “Gentle Giant,” departed this life on April 7, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of love, strength, and unwavering devotion to his family and country. Born on March 1, 1973, in Miami, Florida to Milton and Linda Jones, Milton was raised with strong values, deep faith, and a heart for service. A proud graduate of Miami Northwestern Senior High School (1991), home of the Mighty Marching Bulls, he was a talented and passionate musician. A true master of his craft, Milton played the tuba, trombone, and baritone with distinction and pride, bringing life and energy to every performance. He continued his education at Bethune – Cookman University, furthering his educational aspirations. On November 17, 1994, Milton became a proud member of the Society of Freemasons, Prince Hall Seminoles, embracing a brotherhood of service, leadership, and community that was deeply meaningful to him. On March 8, 1995, Milton enlisted in the United States Navy. He served honorably as a Machine Maintenance Mechanic (MM2) and Hydraulic Specialist for Weapons. His service included two tours during the Gulf War aboard the USS John C. Stennis and the USS George Washington, earning numerous medals and commendations for his courage, dedication, and exemplary service. Committed to lifelong learning and professional growth, Milton earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Occupational Safety and Health with a concentration in Fire Science Engineering from Columbia Southern University in August 2010 — a testament to his dedication, discipline, and passion for safety and service. Following his military career, Milton brought his technical expertise and unmatched work ethic to a number of companies, including The Burks Company, Nixon Power, GE Energy, MACTEC, Enel Green Power, Blattner, and Strata Solar Energy. In every role, he was respected for his skills, dedication, and integrity. Milton’s faith played a foundational role in his life. He accepted Christ and was baptized at Good Hope Baptist Church on September 21, 2014, alongside his wife Samantha and their children EJ and Paige. Together, they made a family commitment to live for Christ and raise their children in the admonition of the Lord. His spiritual journey was a source of strength, peace, and purpose, guiding the way he lived, led, and loved. Milton’s personal journey was deeply rooted in love. He met his high school sweetheart, Samantha, in September 1989. Though life led them on separate paths, their hearts found each other once again and they were joyfully married on December 25, 2006—a Christmas blessing that marked the beginning of their forever. Milton was a devoted husband, proud and loving father; a beaming grandpa; beloved son; patient brother and a loyal friend! He took great pleasure in his dedication to the happiness and well – being of his loved ones. His gentle nature, protective spirit, and deep devotion made him the rock of his family. Milton enjoyed life and believed in savoring the moments that mattered — whether that was time with loved ones, great music, or a relaxing evening outdoors quietly reflecting, connecting, and unwinding. Milton leaves behind beautiful memories with his devoted wife, Samantha; six children — Vaquisha, Steven, Ciara, Elijah, Zachary, and Paige; two grandchildren — Kylen and Legacy; his loving parents, Milton and Linda Jones; his younger brother, Antonio Jones of Miami, Florida; his mother-in-law, Letina Burch; sister-in-law, Tabitha Burch (Kevin Taylor); two brothers-in-law, Ronald Burch and Arthur Brown; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, coworkers, and friends. Milton's legacy is one of love, faith, sacrifice, hard work, quiet strength, and genuine joy. He will be remembered as a man who never stopped giving — to his country, to his work, to his church, and most importantly, to his family. Milton left an indelible mark on all those he encountered. His quiet strength, loyal friendship, and boundless compassion will be remembered by all who knew him. His legacy will live on through the lives he touched, the values he upheld, and the deep love he gave so freely. He is deeply missed, forever loved, and eternally remembered.
